Signs of Depression Are a Cry for Help
If it has been awhile since you have felt like you were on top of your game, and you don't
feel as if you are ever going to pull out of the dark funk that your life as become, then
you may need to familiarize yourself with the classical signs of depression. Depression is
a real disease and it is treatable if you recognize the symptoms and seek help. It is not
anything to be ashamed of, and has nothing to do with showing weakness. At one point in
life or another, we all suffer through minor bouts of depression; it is just a fact of life.
Depression can be very debilitating to some, while others can function while suffering
with depression, albeit at a diminished capacity. It can also be one of those conditions
which are somewhat personalized, as some people will exhibit all of the symptoms of
depression and others will only exhibit certain symptoms. Since depression has many
symptoms sometimes it is hard for the layman to recognize true clinical depression when
they see it.
One of the signs of depression is a disruption in sleeping patterns. If you are experiencing
trouble sleeping where you want to were a sound sleeper, then it could be a sign of
depression. That is not to say that losing sleep always means that you are depressed, as at
one time or another we all lose sleep for a few nights. Only when sleep deprivation
becomes the norm does it pose a problem. The loss of sleep is also usually accompanied
by intense bouts of fatigue and exhaustion throughout the day.
The loss of interest in favorite activities for an extended amount of time is also indicative
of depression. Someone who is suffering from clinical depression will put off
participating in some of the things that they use to love to do, for no apparent reason.
This behavior tends to linger for an extended period of time.
Loss of the ability to concentrate during the day while exhibiting anxiety is one of the
true signs of depression which is one of the most prevalent. This is usually accompanied
by a loss of temperament and increased irritability toward individuals they would usually
be very patient with.
Not all signs of depression are physical in nature. Depression can manifest itself
physically as sudden unexplained weight gain or weight loss. There can also be a loss or
even increased appetite which lasts for more than a few days. If you or someone you
know seems to suffering from signs of depression, it is of the utmost importance that they
be seen by a qualified physician. There are several treatments available for depression,
and not all of them are in medicine form. To find out what the best treatment is for you,
see your doctor now.
